Content comes up almost every minute on the internet, and most of it being written. It means there’s a lot to compete with when writing articles for the internet. That’s if you’d like your piece to get in front of the right audience.

What sets good articles apart from the rest is well dug-out content and a good writing technique. That’s even though there are countless styles of writing out there today. So, how do you break it down and write a good article?

Kick out Distractions

When you sit down to write, you need to eliminate social media, your phone, and all other forms of distractions. This will give you time to focus on the task at hand and perform it diligently. So, if you have kids, lock them in a separate room.

No. don’t do that, but have a separate area in your house where you can write without any interruptions. If possible, move around depending on your family’s schedule, going to the less populated room.

Proper Research

There are a lot of articles out there with a lot of vague content. They don’t give you any value for time spent on reading. For example, how many ‘how to’ or ‘hacks’ articles have you read come across on the internet?

There’s plenty of them. But how many have added any value to what you were looking for?

List down Ideas

Ideas come in at any moment of the day, and if you don’t have somewhere to write them down, you’re likely to forget. It doesn’t matter if the idea isn’t related to the piece you’ll be working on the following day; list it down.

You may only remember it when you desperately need to use it if you don’t write it down.

Keep it Short, Simple, and Sweet

Anyone can write today, but what separates the good writers is their ability to keep their articles simple. For example, paragraphs that are more than three sentences long don’t cut it anymore. It looks like bulk words to the readers, and they won’t read it.

Another thing is, to write a good article, you need to keep it simple. Use words that anyone can understand without having to dig out their dictionaries. Look for alternative words for those complex wording to make your article enjoyable.

Break the Article Down into pieces

Lastly, your work needs to be organized. How do you expect readers to read the article if it isn’t broken down to bits? By breaking down your content, the readers will have time to digest the last point before going to the next.

Most readers scan through an article within the first seconds to see if it’s murky or something decent. And it doesn’t matter how many good points you have, so long as it isn’t broken down into facts, no one will read the article.

Bottom line…

It would be best if you had the right environment before you can get down to proper research all that is involved in writing a good article. These are some of the basics to follow for your next article writing project.
